In the English non-royal Peerage there are five ranks: Duke, Marquis, Earl, Vicount and Baron, starting from the highest to the lowest. If a person is a female, the ranks are: Duchess, Marquess, Countess, Vicountess and Baroness. If the person is part of the royal household, there are two ranks higher than Duke: Prince and Princess.
