What are the pros and cons of internal recruiting?

Internal recruiting fosters loyalty by showing internal promotion. It is cheaper than external recruiting. It can foster nepotism within a family business. It may lead to resentment within a team if one person is promoted and others see it as unfairly determined. Preferring to promote within may exclude more qualified external candidates.

Recruiting internally provides a career path for employees, keeping talent. However, only recruiting internally does not bring in new ideas and perspectives.

The pro of internal recruiting is that you are well aware of the strengths and weakness of the person.The con is the lack of new talent and fresh ideas.
