What are the health benefits of table tennis?

My mom is making me join a sports team for my health, and I'm trying to convince her table tennis is beneficial.

Not only does table tennis strengthen arm muscles, but the constant bending and stretching that the sport requires also helps build muscle in the back and abdomen. It also improves hand-eye coordination, and improves cardiovascular health, as it is a form of mild aerobic exercise.

Table Tennis would give you a great upper cardio workout. If you were to join a club of some kind you would be playing against good competitors that would likely run you all over the place.

Table tennis will not get your heart rate up the same way as soccer but it comes close to baseball with all of the standing around.

Table tennis is definitely a sport. It is in the Olympic and popular in major cities (like NY). It is great exercise and leisure (social sport) as well as competitive.
