The fastest jet in the world is currently the X-51 Waverider built by Boeing. This unmanned jet flew for over three and a half minutes at a speed of mach five. The fastest jet with a pilot remains the SR-71 Blackbird. Scramjet engine technology has been developed by Boeing over the last seven years.
