James Dean was driving to an auto rally in Salinas, California on 9/30 /1955. He was accompanied by mechanic Rolph Weutherich. He was driving on Hwy 466. Donald Turnupspeed, another driver, was at an intersction and made a left on 466 and broadsided Dean's car. Dean's car went off the road 15 feet. Dean died while the other two survived.
