Choosing the best hunting dog depends on what you are hunting. Beagles are great for rabbit hunting. For birds, Britney Spaniels and retrievers are good choices.

I think it depends on what you are hunting, however I have a Brittany and she is fabulous. The breed is very easy to train and is a great family pet when you are not out hunting. Lower maintenence than many of the retrievers.
