The best color for an accent wall depends on the color of the rest of the room. If you have a light colored room, a maroon or hunter green accent wall would look best. For any other color, simply pick a darker shade of that color for the accent wall.

This is a color that would have to match the remaining walls. I like brown with blue walls. Some use red, burgundy or dark gold tones.

For an accent wall you want color that will "POP" off the wall and direct your eyes to that wall. Depending upon your furniture, I would say brown or red.

There are plenty of colors that could work for an accent wall. My suggestion is go the opposite tone of what you have. If you have a dark brown color, try a light tan. If you have a black color, go with a light red or grey. Try doing something lighter that will still contrast and intertwine with your decorating. You don't want to have walls that wont allow you to find the right types of decorating objects and pictures!
