After Mexico second largest Spanish speaking country is USA with total number of Spanish speakers 48,859,894. Third is Spain with 46,102,006 people claiming Spanish their first language. Fourth is Columbia with 44,778,880 Spanish speakers. Fifth country is Argentina with 39,893,618 Spanish speakers.

The following in order of greatest to smallest are the 5 most populated Spanish speakers in the world: Mexico, United States, Spain, Columbia and Argentina. Of these only the United States does not recognize Spanish as an official language.
