A vaginal yeast infection is characterized by itching, burning, a white/yellow discharge and odor. With thrush, yeast coats the tongue and inside of the mouth with white patches.

Some yeast infections are symptomless but this is rare. Yeast infections can cause intense itching in the vaginal area, and a discharge which can be thin in consistency and fairly profuse or thick and cottage cheese like. The discharge may be foul smelling.

There is constant itching in the vagina which does not go. This can at times extend to the anus area when not tended to in good time and it can be so embarrassing.
