Cogito ergo sum, which means I think, therefore I am. Verba volant, scripta manent, which means that spoken words fly away, written words stay. Errare humanum est which means committing mistakes is being human. De gustibus non disputandum est which means it's not given to discuss about other people's likes.

A well known Latin saying is "carpe diem," literally "seize the day" - that is, make the most of the time you have. Another is "Ubi sunt?" literally "Where are they?" - that is, whatever happened to the good old days? One more is "E pluribus unum," meaning "from many, one." This is the USA's motto.
