What are some strategies for gaining fluency?

Watching TV in that language will help you learn to speak the language as regular speakers speak it (as opposed to speaking grammatically perfect language from a language course). Reading books in the target language will also help. Trying to think in the target language can also improve your language skills.

Try meeting a native speaker for inter-cambio............ they can practise speaking & listening your language & you practise theirs. Read lots too.
