Your armpits contain lymph nodes, which can get swollen if you have an infection. If it goes away in a few days, your body has fought off the infection. However, if it is painful or you have a fever, you should see a doctor. If the lump is hard and does not go away, it could be breast cancer.

A small lump in your armpit is most likely a swollen lymph node and can have many causes. You could have a bacterial infection or a virus or you could have leukemia or cancer. The best way to determine what is wrong is to see a physician who can do tests or even remove the lump to diagnose the problem.

Something as little as a cyst or inflammed hair follicle can cause lumps in the armpit, and can be fairly common. But these lumps can also be very serious. Lymphnodes are common in this area, and it may have to be removed after consulting with a proffesional doctor and surgeon.

A lump in your arm pit could be a result of a cyst or swelling of your lymph nodes. With any changes or lumps in this area you should always consult with your doctor as it could also be a sign of breast cancer. Do not assume that this is what it is, get checked.
