Make a plan beforehand about how the family will handle a fire in the home. During a drill, be a good example by remaining calm and focused. Let the child take the lead based on previous planning sessions.

You should first discuss the fire drill with your children. Explain what they are to do and let them know that you will be praticing.

Make sure you do a practice run with your family regulatly. Let them know the exits to use, and what to do in case of fire. Have them show you what they've learned.

Keep repeating stop, drop, roll. Also make sure if there is a fire they have a central place where everyone goes to meet up.

You should make sure your children know EXACTLY what your plan for the drill is BEFORE you go to do it. Go over it a few times and then practice. Make sure you know where your kids are at all times when doing the drill. It's only a drill but they may be nervous.
