Examples of harmful microorganisms are Escherichia coli type O156, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis, Vibrio cholerae, Chlamydia meningitis, Streptococcus pyrogens, Streptococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Mycobaterium tuberculosis; Heliobacter pylori, Borrelia burdorgferi, Legionella pneumophila, Yersinia pestis, Neisseria meningitidis, Bacillus anthracis, Cryptococcus neoformans, Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium, vivax, Leishmania donovani, Trypanosome brucei, and Trypanosome cruzii.

Some of the more harmful microorganisms include ones that produce exo and endo toxins, which when shed into out blood stream, have deleterious effects on our body's normal function. These can include virus, fungi, bacteria, and prions.
