We used invites that had a tear off RSVP at the bottom so you not only had invites at regular postage, the return cards were at post card rate.

Make your own! Buy card in a colour you like from a craft shop. Look on eBay for a pack of wedding-themed 'card toppers', decorative pieces (e. g. bows, bells) you can glue to the card. Handwrite the message in silver pen. That way you'll have inexpensive invitations that are unique.
