What are some gestures that are universally considered rude?

Yawning is considered pretty rude, since it shows disinterest to the speaker at times even if you did not mean it in that context. Biting one's thumb is pretty rude and a bit gross and childish as well (and can be offensive in some places). There are actually not that many universally agreed upon interpretations for gestures.

Rudeness is basically selfishness and self-centeredness (ignoring others' perspectives). It's not about gestures you do but the intention behind them. If you let people know your desire to be thoughtful and you put effort into this, small unintentional transgressions will be overlooked.
