Two common problems plague new trumpet players. These include sticky valves and spit buildup inside the horn. Both of these can affect the sound of the instrument. Frequently drain the spit valve. It sounds disgusting but its necessary as spit from playing can buildup quickly. Also make sure you buy valve grease to ensure the easy movement of your valves.
