Blood oxygen levels of 95 percent or more are normal and mean that your cells are getting enough oxygen to thrive and function well. Low normal levels are 80 to 95 percent. Without enough oxygen, cells will die. An oximeter attached to your figure measures blood oxygen levels.

Normal oxygen saturation of blood is above85%. Most normal healthy adults levels run between 95-100% and smokers around 90%. Levels below 85%, as a rule, are considered an emergency.

Normal arterial blood levels of oxygen can be measure by several numbers. One of these is the SAO2; an oxygen saturation of 95-100 percent is normal. For blood gas results, normal arterial oxygen partial pressures should be between 80 and 100. Though normal lower values very slightly, most experts agree that 80 definitely represents the lower limit of normal.

Oxygen in the blood is measured by O2 saturation. This is measured on a scale of 0 to 100. The 'normals" for this is general in the 95 to 100 range. But these normals have many factors invovled in determing when their are critcal. Age, weight, smoking history all effect how health care workers interpret the o2 Sat rate
