How do you know the person you are referring? What have they done when under financial stress? How would you describe their ability to pay bills?

One should as about the credit reference's financial history with the person being asked about and whether or not the reference has any direct knowledge of this person's financial responsibility that could effect the outcome of a loan or other financial transaction. One should also ask for any arbitrary additional information that might be helpful with regard to the transaction.

I would ask about the prior credit history, if the person have been making payments on time to creditors and the amounts.

How would you describe this person's payment history? How would you describe their payment methods? How often did they have difficulty paying? Is there anything you are obligated to tell me about them?
