What are details about the series E savings bond?

I'm trying to figure out what is going to be best for me.

Series E bonds are no longer available they were sold in support of WW2 they now offer series EE bonds. The EE series bonds accrue interest monthly and you recieve the interest when you cash out the bond. Any bond issued after may 2005 will recieve a fixed interest rate. There are penalties for early repemption on these bonds.

By investing in series E savings bond,you are directly lending money to treasury department,and will earn fixed rate of return.It does'nt fluctuate,means can sell back fully plus any interest earned.

The series E savings bond is a war bond which pays interest for 20-40 years. They were introduced by FDR and helped finance World War Two from 1940 to 1945.
