During a time of recession is a great time to get into stocks because they are so cheap. The promising stocks will eventually go back up, making it a great investment right now.

Although you never want all of your investments to be in stocks, now is not a good time to leave the market entirely. Right now, stocks are under-valued due to people worrying about the economy. Thus, if you have extra assets and choose your stocks carefully, it is actually a good time to invest.

While it appears the economy is bottoming out, it may be time before a full recovery occurs. If you are close to retirement, you should remove your savings from stocks.

If you are in the stock market, especially if you were in before the crash, you should not get out. Chances are your portfolio is devalued at the moment but you still own the stock. Selling it now will cause you to lose your investment. If you can hold on we are seeing signs of recovery.
