Question by  Kelcie (28)

Should I use a dull finish to repaint furniture?

I can't quite picture how it would look.

It's really a matter of taste but a dull finish will hide any damage or inperfections better then a glossy finish. A glossy finish will however protect better.

When repainting furniture as a temporary solution, go for dull or matte. That way, the furniture looks good from a distance: you won't notice scratches and dents, as you would with a high gloss finish. (Dull paint works like powder on a face: camouflage of blemishes. )

A dull finish is fine for furniture if you like that look, but you need to use either an eggshell or satin finish. they are more durable and washable than flat.
