Cramps are normal during pregnancy and should not cause concern on their own. If they are accompanied by any of the following however, they should be addressed with a health care practitioner; bleeding, fever, water-like discharge, extreme pain, or if they get worse when walking as it may be a sign you are in labor.

Towards the end of your pregnancy, you may experience light cramping, or Braxton Hicks contractions. These are your bodies way of practicing for the real contractions that you will experience during labor. You should always discuss any discomfort you are feeling with your doctor.

Sometimes at the early stages of a pregnancy you may have some cramps and some spotting. These are symptoms of implantation. If you are further along you may have a kidney or urinary tract infection. Either way you should go see your OBGYN or to the ER just to be safe!

The feeling of having cramps can be normal. I had that feeling, but my doctor said it was just my uterus growing and stretching to accommodate the baby and not actual menstrual cramps. The muscles and ligaments are working to make room and it can be uncomfortable. That said, if you're worried, have sharp pain or spotting, see your doctor.
