If you miss one birth control pill and take it within 24 hours, there is minimal risk. If you miss a Nuva Ring by a week, it may not be effective when you need it. If you miss a Depo Provera shot, which is scheduled every 3 months, you have significant concern.

Depends what part of the pill you were on. If you were on the 1-3 weeks of the pill, then use a condom. If you were on the sugar pills on the 4th week, then you are fine because your body has the hormones you need to stop you from getting pregnant.

It is recommended that you use another form of birth control, like condoms, until you are out of this birth control cycle and have successfully started your next one. The only reason why you should worry would be if you had intercourse without any other form of protection at or after the missed birth control.

It depends on the form of birth control used and for how long you have been using it. A woman can get pregnant if she is not consistent in taking the pill. If other forms are used, condoms, spermicide, etc. not using them during intercourse is risky and can indeed result in an unwanted pregnancy.
