All babies chew and play with their bodies. Of course they are new to this world. I have never had any kids in my family who were wrist suckers. Although thumb sucking was an issue. Thumb sucking causes the top front teeth to become "buck" so to speak. But it doesn't seem there is anything wrong with wrist sucking.

Sucking is a primary reflex of all babies. Without this reflex, no baby would be able to receive nourishment because the sucking reflex is needed to bottle feed or breastfeed. Since it is such a primary reflex most babies will suck a thumb, pacifier and in some instances, their wrists. A wrist sucking baby is a healthy baby.

No, as long as it is only sucking. It may mean the baby is teething. You can offer other teething toys to distract of you want to. The habit may be something the baby does to comfort himself which is OK. If you don't like it try to get him interesting in something more to your liking.
