My six year old bites himself - is this normal?

He doesn't do it too often but I am not sure what to think.

I have been a mom for a long time, and I really don't think this is normal behavior. I don't want to alarm you, but it sounds like a relative of cutting and other forms of self mutilation. I think something is bothering your child, I wouldn't waste time in getting professional help for him. Good luck.

This is definetly not normal. Talk to your child. Spend more time with him and give him love and attention. If he does not respond take him to a counselor.

While he is certainly not the only six year old to bite himself, it is definitely a behavior to note. Pay closer attention to the behavior. Is there a discernable pattern? Is it done when angry of bored? Is the harm intentional? If you have any concerns, involve his pediatrician.

No that isn't normal when someone bites their own flesh. You should take him a psychologist or a doctor to check what is wrong.

It's probably normal, most kids do things like this for no reason. If you can correct him he probably will not do it anymore. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I was you, it doesn't mean anything at all. He will soon grow out of it and not do it anymore.
