My PSP screen just turned off, but the monitor is still on. What could be wrong?

It sounds like it switched over to the monitor and it turned off the screen to save battery life . If that's the case you can just un-plug it and it should go back to normal.

Depending on the model it's possible your PSP is simply old. If its a 1000 what it could mean, however, is that the connector cable from the screen is coming loose from the hardware. This is common with PSP's that are played regularly.

It could be bricked which would cost 89.99 to fix. It explains what could be wrong. Another way to fix it is to buy a pandoras battery or a 'jigkick battery'. You can also try to take the battery out and putting it back it, it might work but maybe not. Or you can reload the software.

The thin cable wire make have come loose, or the switch on the side may have been slid by accident. Check those first, and if everything looks good, you may have to take it to a repair shop because the screens have been known to go out before.

This is most likely an issue caused with the firmware corrupting causing a conflicting issue with the screen. Ring up the Sony careline and give them the information about your PSP explaining what exactly happened. They will offer you some solutions which if you still have a warranty will be free.

It could very well be a problem with the backlight on it. Much like LCD monitors, the lights on PSPs can go out so you can't see the screen.
