My 94 year old mother-in-law has a problem with itching all over--no rash, just itching. Any ideas for a remedy?

Sometimes bathing habits can contribute to itching--whether not bathing often enough, or with too-hot water, or irritating soap. I suggest using an oatmeal bath or lotion. It works for me.

Barring any serious illness, she probably is not getting enough fluids. Encourage her to drink more water or other clear liquids.

Skin thins with age. Elderly people have skin that becomes dry and sensitive. Change laundry detergent to a mild detergent used for babies laundry. Also, use lotion to keep skin moisturized. These work great together, they are soothing and less irritating.

There are many possibilities but itchy skin with no rash can be the sign of a weakened liver. Your grandmother should talk to her doctor about her symptoms.
