Unallocated spousal or child support is generally deductible, espeically if the payments end upon the payee's death (or sooner) and the support decree makes no provision for substitute payments.

Unallocated support is tax deductible as long as you can prove it is for a dependent. You need to have letters to that effect.

Rulings from the Tax Court have concluded that unallocated support tax payments may or may not be alimony, depending on whether any of it as designated as child support. They can be deducted by the paying spouse if and only if they are credited as income by the recipient.

Yes. Unallocated support, whether specified in a divorce decree or in a separation agreement, is deductible as alimony. The receiving spouse must pay the income taxes on the support.
