Is there a tradition that involves wearing red on St. Patrick's Day?

No. People traditionally wear green to celebrate St. Patrick's day. There is, however, a tradition among hardline Protestants in Northern Ireland and elsewhere to wear orange instead of green as a sort of anti-celebration. This practice is rapidly dying out, however.

I have no idea about red but green is all I know. Green is for the Irish. Everyone wear green clothing or hats and in Chicago they even turn a river green to celebrate St Patrick's Day.
