There are 16 ounces in every pound. The easiest way to do this conversion without a calculator is to divide the number of ounces by 16. Whatever the answer is is the number of pounds.

16 ounces is 1 pound so if you can remember the easy multiples of 16 (16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96) then you should be able to convert easily.

You need to multiply the amount of ounces by 0.06. for instance 20 ounces would be 1.2 ponds.to get a more precise value you can multiply the ounces by 0.0625.

The only shortcut would be to to round ounces to 15 ounces a pound instead of 16. Otherwise only if you can do figures by 16s.
