Is there a free DVD decoder for Windows Media Player?

Newer version of Windows does come with the decoder. However if yours doesn't then you must find an appropriate mpeg-2 style codec or stand-alone player online.

For Windows 7 and Vist above Home Premium, there is a built in DVD decoder. There is also one built into Windows Media Center. For other versions, you can try a software like VCL, but usually they have a hard time integrating with Media Player.

There is no free decoder at the moment. You will either have to go out and buy one at a computer store or search the internet for one, there are some free ones out there.
