Yes it is calculated per square foot. My grandad is a paint contactor and that is how he figures it. The price varies due to different factors.

yes,in most of the case's the painting cost will be calculated as per square foot. In the case of small works more better is to provide daily wages. But in the case of large buildings and shopping malls the builder fix a specific amount for each square foot.
