Abaddon is an angel. The confusion of his origin comes from his job subduing and then guarding Satan in the bottomless pit. He is chiefly known as the Destroyer due to his roles, particularly the one he plays during the Apocalypse.
The distinction in the translation is that other angels, such as Satan, fall from heaven, or grace, but Abaddon falls to Earth. Abaddon carries the key to the bottomless pit, and is known in the Bible to open the Fifth seal. add a comment
Abaddon is the Fifth angel in Revelations and tells the others to only hurt those who do not have the seal of God in their foreheads. It is a destroyer, but not a fallen angel or demon. Some are uncomfortable with this entity due to the role it plays. add a comment
