Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication which is not addictive but one in which would require a gradual dose reduction. The reduction would require the patient to be under the supervision of a professional.

Seroquel is a mood stabilizer and antipsychotic and has not been deemed addictive, although web-searches, media, and the withdrawal symptoms may say different. It is considered a controlled substance. This medication is mostly prescribed to people who are suffering from bipolar disorder.

Definitely yes. I know several people who are addicted to seroquel. If you go to the WEBMD site and research seroquel, you will find information that this drug also causes Diabetes, when abused. My granddaughter told me that she was addicted to this drug.

No ,I don't believe seroquel is addictive.I have taken it for years for sleep disorders and when I run out I might not sleep well but I don't have withdrawel signs .I talked with my doctor about it and he said it's good for sleep without worrying about addiction.

seroquel is additive = it causes brain damage and it is harder and harder to sleep without it. use sleeping pills, glycine 3mg, taurine, neurologist specialised for sleep. Low doses aren't safe. Proper withdrawal may require long treatment in hospital where insomnia and low blood pressure is treated.

Seroquel is definitely addictive!! I've been on it 8 years and even though I've tapered off - I am having trouble getting completely off of it.

It is not addictive in the strict sense. However, abstinence form this drug after a long term use may cause withdrawal symptoms.

My grandmother has been taking seroquel (1/2 of a 25mg pill, now 1/4) for 5-6 months. she has developed increased mouth movements, head nodding and her vision has worsened. she skipped one dose - couldn't sleep and had stomach problems.

I would like to hear from addiction specialists. Only their opinions matter, and they will tell it like it is. All psych meds need to be weaned off of and not b/c they are addictive. Most ppl who are on the medication couldn't sleep before either.

We take care of a 37 year old male with epilepsy. He started Seroquel 3 months ago. His seizures increased from once a month to once a week. He was just diagnosed with cataracts, high blood sugar and now has gallbladder problems.
