Is running on treadmill or jogging good for a herniated disc?

No, the herniated disc may be able to become injured again. The best thing to do would be to rest and let your body heal its self instead of working it out on a treadmill. Under stress the disc may become herniated again and may make the disc worse, not better.

Any type of running or jogging can create excess jostling of the disc, which can cause more irritation. Though excercise is a great way to help things adjust and heal, one should choose a lighter exercise, such as a long walk, when they have a herniated disc in their back.
