Consumer agency tested microwaveable plastic: found Rubbermaid, Tupperware both safe, w/no plasticizers leaking into products. Rubbermaid site shows which contain BPA; most don't. Now a new study found another problem plastic: Phthalates. Too new and inconclusive. No specific info regarding Rubbermaid and phthalates. It's in everything(even medical equipment). I don't use other plastics for food/drink, but feel Rubbermaid's fairly safe.

They claim it's safe but it's never a good idea to microwave anything that is made of plastic. Plastics are absorbed into your foods when you go to microwave or re heat them. It's actually best to microwave your foods in glass dishes. Glass doesn't absorb into the food as plastics do.
