Yes, it's an effective product to an extent - headlice are building a resistance to OTC treatments though. Be as thorough as you can when using the nit comb and you greatly increase your chances of it working. You may need to treat more than once.

Nix is supposed to be very effective but there is nothing quick about the treatment. After applying the chemical, a nit comb has to be used over the entire scalp to get the lice eggs from the hair shafts. Every shaft of hair has to be looked at because any spots that are missed may have eggs and trouble restarts.
