Is it worth buying show quality pug puppies?

I personally feel you should never buy a dog just for competition. A dog is a companion, not a tool to try to make money. Though if you buy a pug to show, just realize that you will have a lot of competition across the states. Everything has risks.

I have two pugs, one is pure bred AKC, the other is a show quality. If you are not going to compete, you cant tell the difference.

It depends on whether you intend to show your dogs. For just household pets, pet-quality dogs are just as good as show quality animals. You won't notice the difference.

Of course! It's always a great idea to purchase show quality pug puppies, if you plan to get into showing your dogs. If not, you can easily stick to purchasing a pug that isn't show quality, and is probably less expensive. Don't waste money on a dog who won't be shown off in a show.

Show quality pug puppies are expensive. If you want to show the dog, then it is worth it. If you want a pet, than it is not necessary.

If you're showing them, Yes. If they're just a pet, No. Show quality dogs are overpriced. You can find a perfectly healthy AKC registered Pup for HUNDREDS LESS than show dogs. For example, my mother in law purchased a show quality Maltese and my non show Maltese has better confirmation.
