It is safe to gargle with peroxide but you must use caution since peroxide is an acid. Be sure to dilute a capful of peroxide with a capful of warm water. Do not swallow but swish the solution throughout your mouth and gargle it in the throat area. This will kill bacteria in your mouth and whiten your teeth.

FDA has approved 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide for the use of mouthwash. This is for the treatment of mouth infection and should be used only for a short period of time. Studies shows that overuse of hydrogen peroxide may damage mouth cells and soften the tooth surfaces. Other uses of hydrogen peroxide like, whitening of teeth is not proved.

Gargling with peroxide is very safe, especially if there are no open wounds in the mouth. The peroxide acts as a bubbling agent and will free any stuck on food ot patches of infection on the tonsils. It can be destructive to healing tissue so be careful.

People will dilute 3% hydrogen peroxide with fifty percent water, and gargle that. Diluted its mostly safe to swish it around your mouth. As long as you don't swallow any.

It is safe if you dilute the peroxide with an equal amount of warm water- one capful of water to one capful peroxide. Do not swallow any of the peroxide/water mixture.
