Try a product called "Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent. " It uses an essential oil, and is said to be safe around kids and pets. Or, use peppermint oil or citronella to soak cotton balls. Set balls out where you suspect the rats or mice are coming from. Check gaps around pipes, look at baseboards, and stuff holes with steel wool.

Yes, go to a local pet store and buy a king snake and let it loose under your house. They are territorial and tend to stay in one place.

Yes, some homeopathic stores have things like crystals or incense that are supposed to ward off rats and insects, based on scents or chakras. I can't say whether they are effective or not. You could also buy a cat, which is very effective at getting rid of rodents, and is also a fun companion.

Yes, there are many effective products on the shelf today. Magic mouse, Shake-Away and zinc phosphide are all natural and should be effective.

Yes, it is possible, although the options are somewhat limited, and not very effective. At best, most repellents I've seen available are only effective for short periods of time, and even during that period, are not completely effective. Other methods must be used to effectively deter rats.
