Is it okay to paint bathroom tiles?

No, in general it is NOT acceptable to paint bathroom tiles. Tiles in a shower or tub area should not be painted for any reason. If you do need to paint tiles, be sure to use a latex paint that is specifically designed for that purpose. If you are not sure ask Sherwin-Williams.

It's not great, unless you invest in high-quality waterproof paint. If you use regular paint, you run the risk of having it peel in reaction to steam and water in the bathroom.

Bathroom tiles can't be painted. They have a very smooth surface and the paint won't adhere to it. Even oil paint which can be used on surfaces that latex can't won't stick to the tiles. Paint needs a rougher surface. If you want to change the tile color the only thing that can be done is to replace the tile.
