Check with your local humane society. De-clawing is illegal in some areas. Most vets suggest using a claw sheath such as SoftPaws instead of de-clawing. Claw sheathes are easy to use and last about 2 months. De-clawing means that the cat can not defend itself. Also, though it is rare, cats can have permanent injury or death from de-clawing.

Most vets will refuse to declaw your cat. It is intrusive, un-needed surgery. If your cat is indoors, which is the most healthy for him, there is no need- if you are worried about your furniture you can buy caps for your cats claw's or train very quickly with a squirt gun with no additives, (never squirt in the face).

Only if there is no way the cat will ever be let loose on its own. Declawing any cat will leave them defensless.

Declawing should be used as a last resort, regardless of the breed of cat. Although Sphynx cats may not seem to have a natural need for their claws, you should still think carefully before performing the procedure. Declawing is painful and many vets simply refuse to do it at all.
