Yes, this is normal, the heart rate starts low, and increases. The heart rate will typically peak at around ten weeks (175 beats per minute). From ten weeks, the heart rate will decrease slightly until it is at a steady rate (150 beats per minute) for the rest of the pregnancy.

It is not normal. If you are pregnant your body is pumping more blood. You blood volume increases 50 percent! It does this so the baby gets enough nutrients. That would mean your heart would if anything be beating faster. I would go see my doctor and make sure my blood preeure wasn't too low and everything is ok.

Are you asking about the mother's heartbeat or the fetus'? If the mother, a low heartbeat is fine, especially since you are lying down at the Obstetrician's office. At this stage of the pregnancy, the baby's heartbeat will be very fast.

Yes. Since the fetus is still so small there cannot be any sure heart rate count. Usually youll get a better reading on the heart rate a few weeks further along. Sometimes however, the woman may miscarry if the heart rate doesnt increase by the next doctors visits. 6 weeks is still too early to begin worrying.
