Yes you might smell or taste something that is not normal. It could be the glue that they used or the crown. I would talk to dentist if it continues.

An all porcelain or gold crown shouldn't have a taste a porcelain with metal coping may have a metallic taste depending on the metals used this should lessen and eventually go away as your saliva has a galvanizing effect on the metal. A bad smell can mean that the margins are bulky and trapping food or a possible infection.

Yes it could be the metal on the crown or the glue they used to put the crown on with. However it should not last very long, if it last for maybe longer than 2 weeks I would go back to your dentist and have them look at it just to be sure.

It could be that your crown is lose or you have gotten some food stuck around the crown. It would be a good idea to rinse your mouth with mouthwash and gently floss around the tooth. If it doesn't go away you should go to your dentist.

If the crown is just a few days old, it may be normal. However, foul smells indicate infection. You should see your dentist if the taste and smell persists.

I would say, definitely not. The dentist should have removed all decay that could cause smell or a bad taste in the prep work for the crown. Check with your dentist because this doesn't sound normal at all.
