Question by  dredditt (25)

Is it normal if my cat's bleeding after giving birth?

I just want to make sure she is okay.

This is pretty common, but if it continues for a long time after or if she is having trouble nursing her kittens, bring her to the vet.

Bleeding immediately after birth is normal, as long as she's not bleeding a huge amount. If it's been longer than that it's not normal and she should see a vet.

Yes a little bit of bleeding is okay but if there is a lot then take your cat to the vet.

It is normal for a cat to bleed after birthing it normally lasts 3-4 days if it persists longer than a week or smells nasty or is an odd color or there is a lot of blood then a check up at the vets would be a good idea.

Some slight spotting after birth can occur, but if it is persistent or there is a lot of blood there could be a serious problem. Probably worth a call to your vet to discuss her symptoms with a professional (who is the best person to assess whether your cat needs medical attention).
