Is it against the law to spank a child with a cane?

It depends on where it occurs. It may not be illegal in Singapore but may be considered illegal in the United States. It depends on culture differences. In the United States some may consider it child abuse and report it while other people simply few it as disciplining their child.

The laws in Singapore are quite different than the laws in the US. Caning is a common punishment in Singapore. It is not really "spanking," but rather is more akin to whipping or lashing someone with a cat-o-nine-tails. In the US, state law allows parents to use "reasonable and appropriate physical force" to "correct" a child.

Singapore only "canes" people who have been found guilty of specific crimes. This includes repeated drunkenness in public and drug smuggling. They do not cane children.
