No, a diamond is not based on a triangle. First of all a triangle has three sides and a diamond has four. So a diamond is more related to or based on a square or rectangle. It is only a coincidence that two triangles can be used to form a diamond.

First of all globes and cylinders are 3D, whereas circles, diamonds and triangles are 2D, so the relationships are necessarily different. Then there is the fact that even though a diamond looks like 2 triangles stuck together, it's a quadrilateral, so its properties are essentially different. In addition, the sides of a diamond are equal.
