Creatine is believed to be safe in humans in recommended doses provided adequate hydration patterns are followed. It has been shown to increase muscle growth but may not work in all subjects. Creatine's most likely effect is the increase in energy production at the genetic level.

There are no adverse side affects associated with taking creatine, in the dosages recommended by your doctor. Studies on the long term effects of creatine are rare though. Creatine is an effective weight-gain supplement that increases your body mass safely in conjuction with exercise, when taken correctly.

Creatine is a great supplement to add to your pre- and post-work out. It works great, although there is a significant noticeable drop off in size when you stop using it.

To date creatine (creatine monohydrate) has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for nutritional or dietary use. The purpose of creatine supplements is to increase the natural creatine and water absorption into the muscles of the body. This helps bulk muscles and reduce downtime from exercise.
