An orthodontist told me he doesn't take my kind of dental insurance.

Individuals in the healthcare profession opt to do business with various insurance companies. A physician, for example, might take one kind of health insurance but not another. A dentist can sign up with various dental insurance companies but he/she is under no obligation to do so. He/she may offer special financing while the insurance offers reimbursement.

Orthodontists are covered under dental insurance. However, the orthodontist can choose which dental insurance plans to accept. They frequently accept only insurance plans that pay most for their work.
